ABOUT
The Dutch House Cafe is an all-day dining cafe and bar that serves the best of British produce. Our new cafe has been a much loved local landmark for many years and our aim is to bring it back to the community with the care and attention it deserves. We serve great coffee all day, classic breakfasts, a new and exciting lunch menu and in the evening our bar transforms into a more relaxed dining experience. With the Dutch House alcohol licence we are able to offer you a perfect environment for meeting friends and family. Whether it be a brunch catch up with friends, work breakfast or a family lunch, The large Dutch House Cafe terrace is great for entertaining during the summer months. And why not cosy up by the open fire inside the cafe in those colder months.
Our Dutch House cafe menu is simple and eclectic, with a variety of freshly-made dishes including
breakfast bacon rolls and all-day classics from fish and chips to homemade pies.
Our main dining space has been beautifully re-imagined into an all round daytime café and the original panelled bar has been restored to become the Dutch House Cafe serving counter. We feel our carefully curated cafe brings personality and comfort and breathes new life into this beautifully renovated building.
HISTORY
The Dutch House Cafe resides in Eltham in the Royal Borough of Greenwich.
It is a fine, locally listed, landmark building of architectural and historical significance.
During the original construction in the 1930’s the brewers engaged a
team of Woolwich architects
and despatched them to the Netherlands to learn and imitate the dutch style of building.
The result is an imposing building witht stature that boasts splendid flemish craftsmanship.
The Dutch curvilinear roof gables that were a feature on a number of houses in Kent give it a
distinct style and the restored intricate herringbone brickwork has given this unique old pub a new lease of life.
Once a popular meeting place for bikers in the 50’s and 60’s we are delighted to call it our home and bring The Dutch House Cafe to the community.
